Description

In Student led IEP meetings, the spotlight is on the most important person in the process: the student.

Students with IEPs attend their IEP meetings when it’s time for transition services, and that typically starts in middle school. But why aren’t we preparing our students for this when they are in elementary school? Why are they not involved sooner, and what about our students who are nonverbal or even moderately disabled? How can we get them involved, and what does it even look like?

Enter: Student Led IEP Meeting Toolkit. The only resource you need to get your students more involved in their learning and show the IEP Team (and most importantly the parents!) how much progress the child has made.

You guys! This resource is amazing! It is such a great tool for student led IEP meetings. Even when I had students that couldn’t attend the meeting (elementary level), we used this resource for them to create things to share with the parents. One student used the prompts while he recorded a video to share with his mom!

I was looking for a way for my upper elementary ESE students to start learning how to advocate for themselves, and this was perfect. I prepped a sample packet and took it to my principal for approval to use, she cried. Thank you so very much for this resource, it’s allowed my students to take ownership of their abilities and advocate for their needs!
