If there's any advice I can give you for the actual IEP writing portion of your job, it's this: start with the Present Levels. Once you've got a solid PLOP, the rest of the IEP really does fall into place and it almost writes itself.

Comment SPS26 🩵 It always starts the same way. You close your laptop at the end of the school year and think, “Next year will be different.” And you mean it, too. Wholeheartedly. You tell yourself you won’t be up late rewriting IEPs.
You won’t feel that pit in your stomach before meetings.
You won’t be piecing everything together as you go. Summer comes. You get to rest a little bit. Recharge and revive that fire.
You might've saved a few posts. Maybe even watch a training or two. And then August hits... it's back to school. The classroom isn’t ready and your caseload already is heavy. You’re hearing “stories” about your students before you’ve even met them. And suddenly… you’re right back where you started. Not because you didn’t try, and absolutely not because you don’t care.
