Pillar 4 is about strengthening the people side of IEPs.
This pillar supports teachers who are navigating communication with families, general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff โ especially when collaboration feels exhausting or unclear.
You donโt need perfect meetings to move forward.
What you do need is shared understanding, clear expectations, and systems that support communication before challenges arise.

How to Use This Pillar
Use this pillar when youโre:
- Feeling frustrated with team communication
- Wanting clearer roles and expectations
- Looking for tools to support family involvement
- Ready to refine how you collaborate with staff
You donโt need to complete every activity here.
Choose the tools that match the conversations youโre having right now.
Here are optional exercises you can work through as youโre ready:
โ Identify members of each studentโs IEP team
โ Complete the IEP Team Member form and share with families
โ Set up Services Sign-In and Related Service Reminders
โ Begin using a Contact Log to track communication
โ Implement the Collaboration Form in your classroom
โ Update your Professional Development Log (in Member Resources)
These are supports, not requirements.
The Goal of Pillar 4
By the end of this pillar, the goal isnโt perfect teamwork. The goal is confidence.
