Welcome to Pillar 3: Data Collection

Support for H + O

Pillar 3 is where data stops feeling overwhelming and starts becoming useful.

This pillar is designed for teachers who feel comfortable writing IEPs but need support with collecting, organizing, and using data in a way that actually informs instruction.

You might not have a data system right now. Or your old system might not be working this year. That’s okay.

This pillar meets you where you are and helps you build something realistic.

Pillar 3 works directly with ANCHOR:

  • You handle implementation
  • You observe data
  • Then you reflect and refine

This is where progress monitoring becomes part of your routine, not an extra task on your plate.

How to Use This Pillar

Use this pillar when you’re:

  • Unsure what data to collect
  • Feeling overwhelmed by progress monitoring
  • Wanting clearer information to guide instruction
  • Ready to create a data system that fits your classroom

You do not need to implement everything at once.

Choose one method.
Start small.

Here are optional exercises you can complete as you’re ready:

☐ Complete the Intentional Data Collection course
☐ Choose one or two data collection methods that fit your classroom
☐ Download any apps or data sheets you plan to use
☐ Create an IEP Snapshot to share with classroom staff
☐ Train support staff or aides on your chosen data method
☐ Set up student IEP binders (physical or digital)
☐ Update your Professional Development Log (in Member Resources)

These are tools to support your workflow — not a checklist you must finish.

The Goal of Pillar 3

By the end of this pillar, the goal isn’t perfect data. The goal is clarity.

Most teachers leave this pillar feeling:

  • More confident collecting data
  • More empowered making instructional decisions
  • More connected to student progress
  • More organized in how they track growth

This pillar helps you move from overwhelmed to informed.

Start with one training. Try one data strategy, and build from there.
