Data Collection Shortcuts That Save Teachers Time

Teachers are always crunched for time, that’s no secret.

And we have a lot of paperwork, that’s another not so secret secret.

So any little tips or tricks we can pick up along the way to help us save a few minutes are like gold in our book.

Today The Intentional IEPย  is going to introduce you to a few data collection shortcuts. You’ll no longer need to write out “hand over hand” when conducting data collection trials.

General use data shortcuts:

I- independent

SC โ€“ self corrected

VP โ€“ verbal prompt

IV โ€“ indirect verbal

DV โ€“ direct verbal

G โ€“ gestural prompt

M โ€“ model needed

PV โ€“ picture visual

VC โ€“ visual cue

IP โ€“ indirect prompt

PP โ€“ partial physical prompt

FP โ€“ full physical prompt / HOH โ€“ hand over hand prompt

RR โ€“ reduced responses (can follow with a number to share how many responses the student had to choose from)

OA โ€“ oral administration

NR โ€“ no response

TP โ€“ teacher prompt

WA โ€“ with assistance

AP โ€“ accommodations provided

MDP / MP โ€“ modifications provided

ASL / SL โ€“ sign language used

+ successful trial
